THE GOLDEN YEAR FOR DRAMA
The drama cup really did runneth over this year, with viewers spoiled for choice when it came to gripping, edge-of-seat television fare. The five-time Golden Globe-winning Homeland returned for a third series, while Netflix’s Breaking Bad went out with a bang encompassing emotion, humour, jaw-dropping revelations and the end of Walter White’s pursuit. The unlikely hit of the year was the French drama The Returned, in which the dead begin to reappear, and then there was the serial killer series The Fall. Not only did it star Gillian Anderson in her best role for years but it introduced Jamie Dornan to the world, the man who will play Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades Of Grey franchise.
